Healthy School Lunches
I saw a brilliant article this morning about children’s school lunches and you know what struck a cord with me?
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again “just like the old days”! That’s it! That’s what this presenter was saying!
School lunches need to be “just like the old days”.
In other words forget about all that rot that comes out of a packet. One sandwich with lettuce, tomatoe, cheese and a bit of meat/chicken (or not), a “home made” piece of cake or cookie and one piece of fruit. That’s it! No snack bars, no fizzy soda cans, no sugar laden fruit drinks, no processed crap - instead “just like the old days”!
Now when it comes to using bread for that sandwich, make sure you choose a bread that doesn’t have a list as long as your arm laden down with numbers, preservatives and additives. Hey, grab yourself a bread maker and make your own fresh bread or pop down the local bakery and buy fresh bread without all the added rubbish.
Did you know that if you actually took the time to make your own “snacks” like; homemade dips, cakes, cookies, muesli bars, that you would actually SAVE yourself money…seriously, try it sometime, you’ll be amazed AND get your kids to help you make all this stuff…they will love it and learn a lifelong lesson in nutritious and healthy eating too.
